Tom Corrigan ALS Research Foundation

Tom Corrigan was a champion in many ways. He lives on, bringing hope for a cure, just as he did before he passed away on July 15, 2009 at the age 50.

For the past four years, the Bryn Mawr Running Club, a 400+ member organization Tom co-founded in 1996, has held the Out & Back Party Run in Tom’s honor. The run, which dates back to the Bryn Mawr Running Club’s early years, has evolved into a special trademark event—raising more than $100,000 in the past few years, the run has successfully expanded to a 4 mile course along West River Drive, and hosted more than 1,200 people on this past April 24th. At this year’s run, over $30,000 was raised and has been placed in the newly established Tom Corrigan ALS Research Fund.

Ever since Tom’s fund opened in January, many of Tom’s friends, family, and co-workers have honored the Narberth, PA resident by donating money to go towards ALS research. Everyone in Tom’s life knew how determined he was to find a cure for ALS and to beat the disease that had taken so much from him at such a young age. As an avid runner and biker, Tom always had the determination of an athlete, as well as the goal-oriented problem-solving mind of a Mechanical Engineer, as he had been for the past 25 plus years. “When Tom wanted to do a project he did it and completed it,” Tom’s father, Lawrence Corrigan, said proudly of his son in April 2009. When it came to the ultimate project, Tom’s countless loved ones joined him in the fight, and will undoubtedly continue Tom’s project of finding a cure for ALS for many years to come.
