About ALS Hope Foundation

The mission of the ALS Hope Foundation is to provide long-term support to 1) basic and clinical research programs leading to a cure, 2) clinical centers of excellence for the care and treatment of patients with ALS, 3) support programs for patients and care-givers that optimize care and promote independence of the patient, and 4) programs that promote patient and physician education about the diagnosis, treatment and caring for the patient with ALS

The ALS Hope Foundation is working to:

* Establish a team of talented and imaginative scientists who will work cooperatively to accelerate ALS research
* Provide these researchers with stable funding to ensure that ALS research continues uninterrupted
* Provide funding for innovative, ground-breaking research across the country where traditional funding sources are not forthcoming.

We have begun by funding clinical research and education at the nationally acclaimed MDA/ALS Center of Hope at Drexel University College of Medicine. This clinic has been providing a "multidisciplinary approach" to care for patients with ALS and their families in the Greater Philadelphia metropolitan area since 1984. The ALS Hope Foundation is working to ensure that this clinic can continue to offer access to clinical trials of promising therapeutics and maintain its work at the forefront of clinical ALS research.

The ALS Hope Foundation has also begun to build a team of researchers on ALS, starting with the ALS Basic Research Laboratory at Drexel University College of Medicine, which is committed to ALS-specific research. This laboratory has reached out to form collaborations with other scientists to attack ALS from new and innovative directions.

We have established a Research Institute for ALS and other Neurodegenerative Disorders, in Philadelphia. With your help, we will create a unique research effort that stresses collaboration and interaction between scientists, between academic institutions and with the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industry. We will provide a stable laboratory environment so that talented and imaginative scientists can work non-stop to defeat ALS.
